Kees Scherer

Kees Scherer started as a freelance photographer after the liberation of The Netherlands in the second world war and quickly rose to fame with his photo reports on the North Sea flood of 1953 and the Hungarian revolution. His creative use of backlight to create striking silhouettes and high contrast images can be see through many of his street photography works. The collection we have here shows some of his amazing photography taken in Amsterdam itself in the 50s and 60s.
